The town centre consists of a thoughtful blend of indoor and outdoor retailers with its picturesque pedestrianised High Street, Mell Square Shopping Centre and Touchwood are Town Centre Shopping, Mell Square Shopping Centre has an attractive open air environment and most of which are open 7 days a week enviable blend of over 90 stores including major names, it is a specialist independent shops where you can buy exclusive designer labels. Our vision for Touchwood was to create an environment that not only extended the retail, commercial and leisure offer of Solihull but also integrated into the existing fabric of the town centre.
For the past couple of years the city is experiencing increase in trade and other activities. There are over 20 companies planning to establish their operations from this city. Hence the city is named as the fastest growing or upcoming cities of the country. The government also plans to encourage trade by establishing number of other shopping malls, cine theaters, and restaurants, also plans to create a market for both the local and international traders. The progress is to expand the business opportunities in the state to attract more companies to establish their operations here. Situated at the geographical heart of the country, and just seven miles from the centre of Birmingham, It has been transformed by Touchwood, a truly elegant and impressive shopping complex with cutting edge stores, bars, restaurant and a nine-screen cinema.
Touchwood comprises three naturally lit arcades with contemporary architecture and luxurious leather sofas. Home to the Midlands’ only John Lewis store there are over 80 stores, a multi-screen cinema complex and a host of bars and restaurants. Touchwood also provides family facilities, web services, a quiet room and chaplaincy service.
Solihull has established itself as an attractive metropolitan borough with its own unique character. A beautifully landscaped courtyard with easy wheelchair access set around is a wonderful selection of small businesses. Box Trees Farm Arts and Craft Centre, Stratford Road, Hockley Heath are Craft Centers. Craft centre with equestrian dressage facilities, 18 specialist craft and gift shops, the lakes emporium being the largest with gifts for the home and garden from around the world, children’s play area, restaurant/tea rooms selling homemade produce and ice cream.
Free use of manual and electric wheelchairs and scooters were offered by shop mobility. For those who find it hard to get around, Solihull shop mobility is based in Drury Lane, Mell Square and also in Touchwood. The mani vision of Touchwood is integrated into existing fabric of the town centre. The dynamic city Birmingham City Centre has many shops and malls like The Pallasades, Pavilion Central and The Mailbox which is home to exclusive stores such as Harvey Nicols.
The Shopping Village is home to craft and specialist gift shops, antique dealers and discounted big brand names. This shopping Village is a treasure trove for discerning shoppers. Next to the shopping village is The Farm Village with acres of fun and animals for everyone to enjoy. From early days Solihull businesses have been clearing a field of unknown size is known to history buffs.
The architectural and landscape qualities of Solihull was enhanced by Touchwood’s charter, incorporating itself into what was already an expanding regional shopping destination. Mell Square Shopping Centre and Touchwood which boasts the only John Lewis store in the West Midlands offers a whole range of shopping experiences to traditional farmers’ markets.
