Joy and excitement welcomed the Academic Year 2007-2008. I could feel the eagerness of the freshmen who came to the university on the first day of school. It was the beginning of their new life towards higher academic life, a life full of freedom, which coincided with the celebration of Independence Day.
I would like to congratulate and welcome all the freshmen who were given the rare opportunity to continue in the higher education and who had chosen PSU as their partner. You are among the blessed youths who will be shaped to become future leaders, entrepreneurs, better members of your family, and good citizen of the community. Nonetheless, as you are given the chance to participate in this important endeavor (educating the mind and hearts and training the incomplete) this shared opportunity, comes with tremendous responsibility.
Being college student is a hard task. It requires work, work, more work, and commitment. Gone are the days when parents and relatives take care of your personal needs. Gone are the days when former classmates and friends are around to celebrate victory and offer shoulders to cry on when you are down. Gone are the days when you didn’t need to worry passing Physics, Algebra, Chemistry and the like because your best friend could do all the computations and analysis for you.
Today is the beginning of a new life, a life that could be tough or easy depending upon how you will look at it. The results will always depend on you.
The Pangasinan State University, particularly the Institute of Teacher Education, the administration, the faculty, the personnel, and the old students will now be your loyal partners toward the fulfillment of your dreams. As you enter the door of this Institute, remember that you have already made the first step towards improving and developing a better life. Make it a worthwhile step! Step upward to a beautiful and fulfilling academic life.
